The Tiger has an unpredictable, competitive, and intense nature, making them act on impulse in some situations. There are many myths about the order of animals belonging to the zodiac, but the most popular one that applies to most Asian zodiacs is the myth of the Jade Emperor. ![]() Are the Japanese and Chinese zodiac the same?īoth zodiacs share the same traits, since the Chinese zodiac was introduced to Japan around the 4th to 5th century. At 60 years, a person is ‘reborn’ as they go back to the very start of another cycle. ![]() The kanreki (還暦) or 60th birthday is an important point in a person’s life, because that is when 5 cycles of the juunishi is completed. Each year corresponds to a certain animal, and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. The Japanese zodiac is separated into 12 animals (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and wild boar) and 5 elements (earth, wood, fire, metal, and water). The Japanese zodiac uses special kanji that are different from the usual characters for each animal. It is part of the astrological system called eto (干支). The 12 zodiac signs or juunishi (十二支) are an important element of Japanese culture, especially when a new year rolls in. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last there are the new Lip Slicks which are conditioning lip tints that come in a twist/click roller ball applicator. I’ve swatched the Sheer Cheek Duo in Bicoastal and Paradise Lust next to each other below as well. You can layer or mix the colors and they wear well over bronzer. The shimmer is fine and smooth so it’s not frosted. These look glowy without getting greasy or oily because they have a unique cream to almost powder like finish. The highlighters are also pure love for me with the pretty finish and sheen. It’s really pretty and I love these formulas because the blush is pigmented but very easy to blend so you don’t get clown-like cheeks. ![]() I do think they are very similar but even if I didn’t receive a press sample I would have bought it anyways. They are actually very close but Lavender Lure is cooler and softer in undertone. At first glance it looks identical like Bicoastal. Up next is the Sheer Cheek Duo in Lavender Lure. The Violet Argente Palette vs Cool Palette swatched below: There can be a tiny bit of fallout with the purple glitter shade when you apply but it won’t fall off the eyes after you have them on the lids. Lasting power is very good on these palettes and Violet Argente is no exception. I personally find I gravitate towards the colors in the Warm Palette but this one is really quite stunning. The pigment is smooth and soft with medium but buildable coverage. The combination isn’t neutral like the others but it makes for a beautiful look. Violet Argente is the most interesting option with a soft pink mauve satin blush, soft pink highlighter, pale pink satiny shimmer shadow, warm rose with silver and gold shimmer, soft bronze and a bright but deep violet glittery shade. I received this one as a press sample but have purchased the other three in Warm and Cool Winter Soleil and the Solar Exposure Palette last year and love them. Up first is the most stunning option the Soleil Eye and Cheek Palette in Violet Argente ($155). ![]() There are also two more shades of the Lip Slick in Spiked Cherry and Red Nectar but I haven’t had a chance to check those out yet. I don’t have this year’s to compare to see if it’s the same, but if it is, it’s a beautiful smooth moisturizer that is hydrating and radiant without looking greasy or too dewy. I have last year’s version which I purchased and it’s lasted a long time. There are a few other items in the collection not featured including the Radiant Moisture Souffle. There is a new Soleil Eye and Cheek Palette called Violet Argente, a new Sheer Cheek Duo called Lavender Lure and a new lip formula called Lip Slick in which I have two shades Hibiscus Kiss and Bitten Berry to swatch for you. The pieces are more on the cool-toned side and have a very pretty mauvey undertone perfect to transition from fall to winter. This palette comes with a variety of colors including a nude and a soft raspberry pink, plus more for a fraction of the cost of this blush duo. This holiday Tom Ford Beauty Soleil Winter Collection 2017 brings us some new makeup in a palette, cheek color and lips. If you are looking for some blushes with a similar formula and shades, I recommend the NARS Exposed Cheek Palette (full review here). ![]() I just don't find them worth collecting anymore because they are all so similar. I really enjoy this formula but as the years go on, I have found myself becoming more and more underwhelmed by these blushes. While the formula is very nice, many brands make this formula and you will get more product for less. When worn the cheeks, you really won't be able to see the difference from one pink to the next. This would have made this duo really special and worth purchasing but if you have any of the other duos, you're really only getting half of the value out of this blush duo because the pink is so similar to the others. I really love the nude blush in this duo but I wish they had included any other shade than another pink. ![]() 11/6/2023 0 Comments First podcaster![]() ![]() ![]() Rogan's thesis of no editing has given glimpses into some of the most controversial, culturally relevant, and compelling subjects to date. 11/6/2023 0 Comments Sable watercolor brushes![]() ![]() This would drive me insane, which is probably why this brush didn't work for me, but it doesn't bother Steve a bit and it may not bother you either. Steve Mitchell, has a video tutorial on lifting and he uses this brush. As Steve paints with it, watch how he constantly repositions the tip. If you read reviews, you'll see that she's not the only one who loves these brushes. I own the 3/4 Oval, Wash, 3/8 dagger (my most used brush), a #1 script, and 4, 8, 12, and 16 rounds. I can create loose, organic, expressive brushstrokes or do extremely detailed work with their needle fine tips. ![]() Her excellent opinion of these brushes: Compared to other similar brushes, Black Velvet hits a snappiness sweet point. I've tried two of the brushes, a round and a dagger, but they didn't suit my painting style so I've since passed them along to a friend who enjoys using them. These brushes are actually a blend of synthetic and squirrel and are a softer alternative to the brushes above. I’ve got more tips for choosing watercolor brushes here. In the samples below, be sure to pay attention to how smooth the letter is (often an indication of softness) and how the pigment is released throughout the pull. ![]() I've also listed an option that didn't work as well for me but works wonderfully well for others. If this is also your preference, I've listed some of my favorite brushes, from synthetics to naturals, that I think will work well for beginners. I enjoy painting with a slightly snappy, high capacity round. Premium quality kolinsky sable brushes, with fine point and high density. While some round brushes lose their crisp point with heavy use, Winsor & Newton. Buy kolinsky sable watercolor brushes online with fast delivery and fast shipping. Winsor & Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Sable Watercolor Brush. Others who tend to pull their brushstrokes may prefer a softer brush like red sable or squirrel. Buy: Escoda Optimo Kolinsky Sable Brush 74.99. Some folks (like me) prefer Kolinsky sable for its spring and snap. For a second brush, I'd concentrate on the best you can afford which will probably be a natural-hair bristled brush. These two brushes will give you a wide variety of strokes for minimal cost. If you have the means to grab a couple of brushes, good choices would be a size 4 and 10 synthetic round. This one watercolor brush can perform a variety of duties from washes to fine lines to lettering. Starting out with one large, pointed round is probably the most versatile option. After using a synthetic for a while, it's also much easier to recognize a quality, natural-hair bristle brush. It's important to make sure that you actually enjoy watercolor painting and then spend some time learning a little about your painting style, preferences, and various techniques. When it comes to artist brushes, the choices are almost infinite so I often get asked, "What watercolor brushes should I begin with?" If you're brand spanking new to this medium, I always highly recommend beginning with an affordable but well made synthetic-bristle brush. Beginner watercolorist are often overwhelmed with supply choices, and this is especially true when it comes to brushes. ![]() 11/5/2023 0 Comments Dissociative amnesia behaviors![]() The findings, which implicate a particular protein in a particular set of cells as crucial to the feeling of dissociation, could lead to better-targeted therapies for conditions such as PTSD and other disorders in which dissociation can happen, such as borderline personality disorder and epilepsy. Then, it’s complete, as no parts seem to be missing. Of course, a visual inspection is definitely recommended to sort this out and determine what was the original color of the car. eBay seller shelbob originally said the black finish you see in the photos is fully original, though, on the other hand, they claim there are signs the Thunderbird actually left the factory in lavender. Being optimistic, I’m thinking this might work out to be a presentable car once cleaned up and gotten going again. But the 1961 Ford Thunderbird convertible that we have here appears to be ticking pretty much all the boxes that you can have on a list for a restoration candidate.įirst of all, it’s fully original with one unclear exception: the paint. A Concours quality T-Bird from 1961-63 could fetch close to $30,000, with a fixer-upper like this one being closer to $5,000. It’s hard to make a call about the interior because the car was photographed inside the barn and there isn’t much light there. But we don’t have much in the way of photos to tell us just how much of it may be involved. The body might clean up nicely as it looks pretty straight, to begin with and the only rust the seller mentions is in the floor pans. There is no mention of air conditioning being there. It’s a well-equipped Bird, with automatic transmission, cruise control, power steering, and probably not the snappy tilt steering wheel. The car is said to have 137,000 miles on it, so a rebuild is probably in the cards anyway. We don’t know if it’s the 2-barrel carb version at 265 hp or the 4-barrel at 320. We’re told the 390 cubic inch engine is stuck, which was the only engine choice for the Thunderbird in ’61. This 1961 T-Bird looks to have been dormant for quite some time if the amount of dust, dirt, and grime on it are any indication. The source for background info was Automotive Mile Posts. While sales were surprisingly off slightly from the prior year, Ford sold 73,000 Thunderbirds for 1961, with 85% of them being coupes like the seller’s car. The ’61 T-Bird quickly gained celebrity status by serving in the inauguration parade for President Kennedy (Ford executive Robert McNamara was Kennedy’s new Secretary of State) and appearing as the pace car for the 1961 Indianapolis 500 (both used T-Bird convertibles). Another goodie was its “floating” rearview mirror which was mounted to the windshield glass instead of at the top of the windshield. With the transmission in Park, the steering wheel would slide some 18 inches to the right. One of the most creative options on these cars was the highly touted ‘Swing Away’ steering wheel which provided easier access to the driver’s seat. One of the advertising slogans for the third generation T-Birds was “Unmistakably New, Unmistakably Thunderbird” and that’s not likely an overstatement. The car is in Morristown, Minnesota and available here on Facebook Marketplace for $2,700. This 1961 coupe looks to have been inhabiting a barn for quite some time, but there are some rusty floors and a stuck motor to be dealt with. It featured sleeker, less boxy styling than its 1958-60 predecessors and could arguably be considered the best-looking of the T-Birds, except for maybe the original 2-seaters. After a successful three-year run as a personal luxury car with a back seat, the Ford Thunderbird was redesigned again for 1961. ![]() 11/5/2023 0 Comments Affinity photo jpegmini![]() My C drive got full when I was running huge exporting around 4000 images.
